Men's Volleyball: Eagles Swept By Newbury

Nashua - The Daniel Webster College men's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Newbury College in a New England Collegiate Conference and NECVA New England Division matchup Monday night at Mario Vagge Gymnasium.

Chris Shannon (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) led the second-year Eagles (1-2, 1-1 NECC) with 13 kills while Eric Smith (Clay, N.Y.) added 10 assists and six digs as Newbury prevailed with game scores of 30-12, 30-23, 30-20.

John Aberly (Palatine, Ill.) paced the Nighthawks (7-4, 3-0 NECC), who won their fifth straight, with a match high 16 kills and added eight total blocks, while Mark Thomas (Wilbraham, Mass.) added 12 kills and six total blocks.

Matt Talamantes (Sylmar, Cal.) dished out 42 assists to go along with four aces, while James Beck chipped in with nine kills and Danny Kim knocked down eight.

Justin Masse (Hudson, N.H.) also chipped in with six digs for the Eagles, who return to action Wednesday hosting Endicott College at 7:00 p.m. in a NECVA New England Division matchup.

Newbury visits Emerson College Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
