Athletics: Lang, Kelly Honored With College DSA Awards
Two Daniel Webster College student-athletes were recently honored with the College’s annual “Distinguished Service Award” (DSA). The awards ceremony took place in the College’s ERC Gallery. Honorees included junior field hockey player Melissa Kelly of Hill, N.H. and senior women’s basketball and cross country athlete Kacie Lang of Raymond, N.H.

Is it tougher to succeed in the men’s game or the women’s? It seems, judging from on-court results, that’s been happening more often lately with the women’s programs from Rivier and rival Daniel Webster College than with their male counterparts. For example, the Eagles just missed out on their second straight New England Collegiate Conference crown and the NCAA tournament berth that goes along with it, falling to Elms College in the conference title game while ending up at 19-9 overall.

Women's Basketball: Gervais Named To Northeast Regional Team By D3Hoops.com
The awards continue to trickle in for Daniel Webster women’s basketball standout Alycia Gervais. The Eagles senior forward and Windham, Conn. native has been named to the D3Hoops.com Northeast Regional Team, earning fourth team honors, announced today. Gervais becomes only the second Eagle to ever earn election to the regional team.

Senior Sarah Paternostro flirted with a triple double, eventually settling for a team-high 20 points to go along with nine assists, seven rebounds and added two steals for good measure and fourth-seeded Daniel Webster rebounded from a poor shooting performance early to push past fifth-seeded Becker, 69-50 in the quarterfinals of the NECC championship tournament Tuesday night at Mario Vagge Gymnasium.

Senior guard Sarah Paternostro just missed a triple double scoring 17 points with a game-high 10 assists and eight steals to lead the Daniel Webster College women's basketball team over host Wheelock College, 75-42, this afternoon in a New England Collegiate Conference contest at Brunelli Court on the campus of Pine Manor College in Chestnut Hill, MA.

Rookie Allyssa Marsonknocked down six three-pointers including her first five attempts from outside in the first half on the way to a game and career-high 24 points leading host Daniel Webster past Mitchell, 77-45 in a NECC matchup Saturday at Mario Vagge Gymnasium. Marson finished 9 of 16 from the field adding two blocks and three assists and Kirsten Murphy notched 16 points with 10 in the second half.

The Eagles women's basketball team saw host Elms break a 61-61 tie with 16 seconds left in regulation as the host Blazers escaped with a two-point win in NECC action Thursday night. Sarah Paternostro was terrific in the losing effort, draining four of her five three-pointers in the second half en route to a team-high 21 points.

Senior Sarah Paternostro set a new career high with a game best 23 points and late senior addition Emily Travis continued to add an enormous spark from the bench with 13 points as the Eagles won their fourth straight and sixth in thier last seven with a tough, 66-60 road win at Mitchell Thursday night.

The Eaglesreceived a double-double from Alycia Gervais, who posted 17 points and 10 rebounds. Kirsten Murphy added 12 points and six rebounds while Sarah Paternostro scored 15 points and added four rebounds and four assists.

The Brandeis University women's basketball team erased an early 12-point deficit in the first half today, rallying past visiting Daniel Webster College, 75-59 in the first ever meeting between the two programs in nine years. Sarah Paternostro led the Eagles with 18 points.

The Endicott women’s basketball team picked up their first win of the year with a 62-51 victory over the Eagles of Daniel Webster College. Endicott improves to 1-2 on the year, while the Eagles (2-1) suffered their first defeat. Sarah Paternostro went for 15 points to lead the visitors and also chipped in four rebounds.

Gervais, a forward and the reigning NECC Player of the Year, put forth one her best weekly efforts in her career last week as the Eagles opened their season 2-0.

In the season opener for both clubs, Mount Ida held a 10 point lead at halftime against Daniel Webster, but the visitors chipped away for the bulk of the second stanza and capitalized in the final three minutes of play handing the Mustangs their first loss of the season, 76-71 Tuesday night. Senior Alycia Gervais led all players with a game high 27 points and 12 boards.

Athletics: MaryLynn Skarzenski Named Head Coach Of Women's Basketball
The Daniel Webster College department of athletics has announced the appointment of MaryLynn Skarzenski as head coach of the Eagles women’s basketball program. The announcement was made by DWC Director of Athletics Robin Seidman. A graduate of and former basketball standout at Nichols College, Skarzenski joins DWC after serving the past two years as a top assistant coach at the University of New England (UNE) in Biddeford, Maine.

Athletics: Waller, Adinolfo Named Student-Athletes Of Year Headlining DWC Annual Awards Night
Senior Amy Waller of Berlin, Mass. (Tahanto HS) and sophomore Josh Adinolfo of Manchester, N.H. (Governor Dummer Academy) were recently honored as the male and female Student-Athletes of the Year respectively, headlining the annual Daniel Webster College Athletics Awards Night ceremony on Thursday, May 3rd in the Collings Auditorium on the College campus.
