Nashua – The Daniel Webster women's lacrosse team fell behind by as many as six goals in the first half but climbed back in late to make a game of it before ultimately dropping a 14-11 decision to Elms in a New England Collegiate Conference matchup Saturday at Eagle Field.

Lauren Mazza led the Blazers (4-6, 1-1 NECC) with eight goals and an assist while Nora McDonough added three goals and Chelsey Grabowski potted two.

Samantha Cotoni (Groton, Mass.) paced the Eagles (0-4, 0-2 NECC) with four goals while Kaylea Parkin (Red Hook, N.Y.) added two. Taylor St. Jean (Manchester, N.H.), Eveline Lopes (Dorchester, Mass.), Brandi Ritz (Burlington, N.J.) and Samantha Bark (Belfast, Maine) added single markers.

Alysha Parsons made 11 saves in goal for Elms, while Lauren Carrik (Pelham, N.H.) made six saves for DWC.

Elms raced to a 7-1 lead over the first 15 minutes of the game but goals from Bark, Ritz, Cotoni and St. Jean helped shave the lead to 10-6 at the half.

An Alexis Pavelock (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) goal 40 seconds into the second cut the lead to 10-7 and Parkin's second of the day later made it an 11-8 game. But Elms tallied the next three to gain breathing room.

Cotoni would score three straight for DWC to close the scoring over the final 12 minutes.

The Eagles travel to Regis for a NECC contest on Tuesday beginning at 6:00 p.m.
